The Dieng Plateau is a volcanic plateau in Central Java, Indonesia, famous for its cool climate, volcanic craters, colorful lakes, and ancient Hindu temples. Located at an average altitude of over 2,100 meters, it is the highest plateau in Java and is often called the “Land Above the Clouds” because of its beautiful and misty natural scenery.
This plateau is the base of an ancient caldera, surrounded by volcanic peaks. Here, there are active volcanic craters such as Sikidang Crater, which emits sulfuric smoke and has unique geothermal activity.
This region offers breathtaking natural scenery with lush green hills, terraced rice fields, and colorful lakes such as Telaga Warna. Its high altitude often gives it a mystical and misty atmosphere.
